Plot summary
Two hundred years after the inauguration of the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain, a host leads a journey through its corridors and halls, past thousands of masterpieces by Spanish, Italian and Flemish painters. The host also narrates the visit, and the museum's director, several members of its staff and an art restorer appear alongside the paintings. The works on the walls tell of rulers and of ordinary people, and of times of war and madness and of times of peace and happiness. Goya's saying that imagination, the mother of the arts, brings forth impossible monsters and unspeakable wonders runs through the journey.
