Italy in a Day - Un giorno da italiani (2014) on Netflix

Plot summary

A crowd-sourced documentary built out of one day. Video submissions recorded on 26 October 2013 were gathered, 45,000 of them in total, and the film is made from clips chosen out of that material. What the selections carry are the fears of Italians living through a recession, their uncertainty about a shared national identity, and their refusal to abandon their dreams. The project follows Britain in a Day, the earlier crowdsourced British documentary that served as its prototype, and was produced as a joint Italian and British film. It was shown out of competition at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.
