Plot summary
Brooks Rattigan wants to attend Yale, but his father Charlie pushes him toward a full scholarship at the University of Connecticut. Brooks works in a sandwich shop with his best friend Murph, a programmer, and worries about paying for college. He takes a chance to earn extra cash by acting as the stand-in boyfriend for Celia Lieberman, a classmate's cousin from Greenwich. Brooks realizes he is good at adjusting his personality to fit each date. Murph develops an app that offers Brooks as a companion for any occasion. Brooks then aims to win over Shelby Pace, telling her that he comes from wealthy Darien instead of working-class Bridgeport.
