The Medusa (2025) on Netflix

Plot summary

The washed up body of a young woman on the shore of the lake calls Oberländer and Hoffmann to the scene. Forensic pathologist Egger saw the young woman on the morning of her death accompanied by a little boy, but now there is no trace of him. When the detectives visit the woman's sister, it quickly becomes clear that her husband's criminal past has caught up with the family. The boy is the couple's son, who was kidnapped by a former accomplice of his father in order to blackmail him into handing over the "Medusa", a fine gold bust worth millions. Hoffmann's dangerous ex Antonio Zübert, of all people, can provide clues to the perpetrator, but only on condition that their daughter Liv is allowed to visit him personally in prison. Hoffmann is faced with a dilemma: should she give in or risk the life of the kidnapped boy if she refuses?
