Plot summary

Surya is born with congenital analgesia, a rare disorder that leaves him unable to feel physical pain. His mother dies shortly after his birth, and his paranoid father and eccentric grandfather Ajoba raise him. At school he is bullied for his condition, and he befriends Supri, a neighbor. Ajoba supplies VHS tapes of martial arts films, and Surya becomes fixated on footage of a 100-man karate kumite fought by a one-legged fighter, Karate Mani. He learns to treat his own injuries. When he defends Supri from her abusive father, both families are evicted and the children are separated. Years later, now a sheltered young man, Surya is allowed outside, follows a poster of Karate Mani and meets Supri again without recognizing her.
