Plot summary
Lobo is a six-week-old wolf pup, one of a litter born in a den on a cliff in the Southwest. His father, El Feroz, is away hunting when the pup follows his nose to the edge and tumbles down the rock face. He climbs back, and a cougar appears. Cattlemen riding below shoot the cougar, and Lobo, out of sight, is spared. El Feroz returns, smells the cat and the riders, and moves the family to a new den.
