Plot summary
Lieutenant Joe Krebs holds a respected position in the community he polices. Gina Moore, a drifting exotic dancer, has just survived a brutal attack that nearly killed her, and she has given a statement to the local police. Krebs is friendly in manner and offers to drive her to the bus station. She accepts. She wakes in a cell in the basement of his secluded country home, one built to hold a prisoner and fitted like a jail. Over the days that follow, Gina must use her wits against a captor whose hold on himself is slipping.
