Plot summary

The town of Balrampur knows Ved Vyas Tripathi as Bhajan Kumar, a singer of bhajans, and he lives with the family of his father, the priest Pandit Siyaram Tripathi. He is unmarried, and the girls of the town seek his blessings, treating him as a priest. He follows a girl named Jasmeet into the locality of the town's Muslim community and learns that she sings. When he accidentally scares off their musician Abdul, Jasmeet presses him to take the stage at their singing event, and afterward the two meet for coffee. Siyaram and a man named Mishra are rivals for the priest's contract at a big wedding. While Siyaram is away on a religious trip, a letter arrives at the house and questions about Ved's identity spread.
