Plot summary
With a revival meeting in town, farmer Dan Kester tells his wife Ev he is going and spends the evening with the waitress Helga instead. Davey Perkins, who works for his father's newspaper, picks up his girlfriend Terry, Ev's sister, while Ev drinks alone and calls Dutch, the café owner, for a delivery. As Dan drives home, a meteor crashes on the farm, bringing high winds and electrical failures, and a patrol bomber goes down. Sheriff Jones fields calls about failing power. Dr. Jenny Langer of Montclair Observatory reports gamma ray activity to NASA, where Dr. Vance connects the readings to the lost bomber and travels to Wisconsin to meet her. The Kesters find dead cattle and odd rocks near the impact site, and Dan opens one and finds a crystal he takes for a diamond.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Giant Spider Invasion (1975)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- While filming the scene where the giant spider explodes, the effects team packed the prop with gunpowder, but it would not ignite even after a whole matchbox was used. The moment director Bill Rebane called off filming, the spider blew up, severely burning two crew members who were taken to hospital.
- Richard Huff and actor Robert Easton were hired to write the script, but creative differences left only pages of dialogue by the time filming started. To force Easton to produce 10 to 15 pages a day, the producers locked him in a cabin and told him he would not be fed until the day's pages were finished.
- The Giant Spider Invasion was panned on release but later became a cult film after it was featured in a 1997 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
