Plot summary

The Christmas holidays leave the children of a Quebec town with two weeks to fill, and they spend them on a simulated war. Luc, who has a reputation for being bossy, commands the attackers, who wear makeshift armor and carry wooden swords and snowballs. The defenders hold a snow castle built to the design of François, the clever boy of the group, and are led by Sophie, a girl who has just moved into town, and by Pierre, the owner of a St. Bernard named Cléo. A bounty chest waits for the winners. As the contest goes on, the two sides grow in size and the war takes over more of the children's lives.
