Plot summary
A documentary account of what happens to Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi after he enters Saudi Arabia's consulate in Istanbul. Central to the film is Omar Abdulaziz, a Saudi activist and video blogger, and Hatice Cengiz, Khashoggi's fiancée; both appear among the interviewees, alongside a Turkish public prosecutor and other officials. Using interviews and archive material, the film reconstructs the events surrounding the disappearance and traces the international response, including the kingdom's efforts to control dissent beyond its borders. It also examines the questions the case raised about free speech and about whether anyone would be held responsible. The film includes archive footage of Khashoggi himself.
