Plot summary
Sybil Warren is committed to a psychiatric hospital, where she meets each day with her therapist, Dr. Deluce, and describes her life as a living hell. Sybil says a demon possessed her and gave her psychic powers. In return, she says, the demon abducted her and removed her unborn child from her uterus. Dr. Deluce tries to find a rational explanation for the account. One possibility she considers is that Sybil's ex-boyfriend, David Hollyfield, invited Sybil to meet his parents after she became pregnant. A dinner-table discussion about their grandchild-to-be turns into an argument, and Sybil barely escapes. Sybil has been diagnosed as schizophrenic.
