Plot summary

In Copenhagen, someone has been murdering fashion models, all of them employed by the same studio. Each victim is given a yellow silk shawl laced with a chemical that attracts a black cat, whose claws have been coated with curare. The shawl reaches the woman as a gift, and the cat follows it to her. The first to die, Paola, was the girlfriend of Peter Oliver, a blind composer. In a nightclub Peter overhears a conversation he believes could lead him to the killer, but he cannot see the face of the person speaking. With help from his butler Burton, he sets out to trace the shawls and the cat.
