Plot summary
Swedish television crews recorded the Black Power movement in the United States between 1967 and 1975. Their reels sat undiscovered for three decades before being assembled into the film. The material is arranged year by year, and the sections touch on opposition to the Vietnam War, the Black Panthers, COINTELPRO, and the damage tied to drug enforcement. Archival footage captures central activists and leaders of the movement. The interviews were conducted by the Swedish crews, and the footage includes scenes from Harlem, Oakland, and Brooklyn. Contemporary artists, activists, and scholars add voice commentary.
