Plot summary

New York City disability rights activists have spent thirty years pressing for a transit system that is fully accessible and that meets the Americans with Disabilities Act. Riders with different disabilities describe and demonstrate their experiences of the system, and take part in protests, court cases and press conferences aimed at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Jessica Murray, a researcher and activist, spends two years examining accessibility on the New York City Transit System while her own decline into disability is imminent. Andy Byford, the president of New York City Transit, describes his work to improve accessibility in an interview and a ride-along, and his dealings with New York State Governor Cuomo, whose office controls the MTA.
