Plot summary
The four workmates and their families leave together for the long New Year holiday, and the trip goes wrong from the start. Lima has rented the beach house, and the journey means long traffic jams in packed cars. The beach is crowded and mosquitoes are everywhere, and finding space on the sand is a struggle. The address is Maringuaba, a neighborhood in Maricá, not the upscale Búzios the group expected, and the house waiting for them is abandoned and falling apart. With nowhere else to stay, the families move into the damaged house and have to sort out living together.

- Os Farofeiros' story began taking shape while Paulo was working on the 2012 film Até que a Sorte nos Separe 2, also directed by Santucci: a scene in which characters stayed at a hotel where everything went wrong sparked the idea of expanding that premise, and the creators looked to National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) for structure.
- In a cast led by Cacau Protásio and Danielle Winits, Antônio Fragoso was personally invited by the director to play his first leading role in a film.
