Plot summary

Indigenous men at Fulham Correctional Centre in Victoria take part in an art program run with the organization The Torch, making paintings and other works that draw on cultural identity and community. Their pieces are prepared for the annual Confined exhibition, which brings the art before an audience outside the prison. The men describe the cultural disconnection, trauma, addiction and institutionalization behind the numbers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australian prisons, and what art and cultural practice mean to them as they serve their sentences. Alongside the exhibition, the men are preparing for life after their release.
