Plot summary
Louise Miller is fifteen and unpopular at her high school, and so is her best friend Polly. She wants the attention of Brad Powell, the quarterback, who is with Randa. One night Brad's convertible runs her off the road, and Louise, looking for a phone, meets Madame Serena, a seer who reads her palm and tells her she is a witch. Her powers will come on her sixteenth birthday, Serena says. That birthday arrives the next week, and nobody comes to the party; most of her classmates are at Randa's instead. A teacher, Ms. Malloy, hands Louise a necklace with an amulet from the costume box.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Teen Witch (1989)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- A post-production screening at the American Film Market so enthused foreign buyers that Moshe Diamante, co-owner of distributor Trans World Entertainment, ordered more scenes for production value; producer Rafael Eisenman oversaw the added filming, which included the "Top That!" rap battle.
- Singer Debbie Gibson was the original choice to play Louise, the teenage witch, but negotiations with her fell through before she could be cast.
- The script's first draft was raunchier and closer to a teen sex comedy like Porky's, until producer Alana H. Lambros and director Dorian Walker cut the racy material to secure the PG-13 film they wanted.
- Teen Witch performed much better on home video and overseas, turning into a cult classic as 1990s cable airings on HBO, Cinemax and Disney Channel brought it newer, younger audiences.
- No soundtrack album was ever released because the film's financial backers never provided funding for one, so many of the tracks were sung by members of the Weir family.
