Trailer

Plot summary

Clean drinking water sits at the center of a fight over whether it belongs to everyone or to whoever can buy and sell it. Tapped examines the bottled water business and its effects in social, economic and ecological terms. A town that hosts a Nestlé factory and tests run on the bottles the company uses are part of the account, and the tests turned up potentially harmful chemicals, including known carcinogens. Also traced is what happens after the cap comes off: forty percent of what is sold is filtered tap water, and thirty million single-serve bottles are thrown out each day as plastic waste. The trail runs from plastic production to the ocean, and the people along it are caught between corporate interests and the public's claim to clean water.
