Plot summary
Bored with their middle-class lives, the wives in these marriages look for excitement and adventure beyond their homes and their marriage beds, while their husbands remain content with what they have. A newspaperwoman named Sarah tells their stories. Irene's husband, John, shows no courage at work, so she takes it upon herself to secure him a promotion. Sheila bets on horse races without telling her husband, and when she runs up debts she looks for a way to settle them. George carries on with his secretary while his wife Kathy does not accept defeat. A photographer named Steve lays a trap for Carole, a trainee skier is involved with her instructor, and Sarah plans a special evening for her own husband, who arrives with a friend.
