Street Heroines (2021) on Netflix

Plot summary

A documentary follows three Latina artists beginning their careers, one in New York City, one in Mexico City and one in São Paulo. Each works to build an artistic identity inside a graffiti and street art subculture that men have long dominated. The documentary includes historical anecdotes from graffiti photographer Martha Cooper and from pioneering artists such as Lady Pink, Claw Money, Nina Pandolfo, Swoon and Lady Aiko. Women have painted in graffiti and street art since it began, and the documentary shows their push for creative expression and their efforts against sexism through art.
