Plot summary
Clara das Neves lives in a castle with her father, the King, and her stepmother, a Queen who is proud of her beauty and asks her magic mirror whether any other woman is prettier. The Queen's lover is the Prince, and after the King dies she expects the Prince to marry her. He instead tells her he wants to marry her stepdaughter. The Prince and Clara meet by chance and begin an affair, which the Queen sees. She hires a Hunter to kill Clara, who offers herself to him in exchange for her life and flees into the forest, where the seven dwarfs take her into their cottage.
