Plot summary

James has spent his career saying "actor" when asked what he does, and these days he says "struggling actor." A brief stint on a soap is behind him, an independent film he was cast in is still waiting on part of its funding, and the only work he can find is at Stella's, a night club owned and run by Stella, where the performers lip sync for the spotlight. He takes the job and keeps it from his wife and their two children. The other performers treat him as an impostor. When his wife turns up at the club and catches him in drag, he has to hold his marriage together, and the police have questions for him about the death of a colleague.
