Plot summary
Peter Piper earns his living as a photographer, and a visit to a laboratory puts him in the path of a carnivorous spider plant that the scientists at the laboratory have grown. One of the creatures bites him, and he develops plant-like powers of his own. Piper draws on them to save Jane-Mary, a former schoolmate, from a mugging, and she falls in love with him. Adopting the name Spider-Plant Man, he carries out a series of heroic feats across London, among them the retrieval of demo tapes for Peter Andre. Batman, meanwhile, has been overshadowed by the new hero's popularity.

- Spider-Plant Man grew out of a scrapped fifth series of Blackadder: one brainstormed idea was Batadder, a Batman parody with Rowan Atkinson in the title role and Tony Robinson as his Robin-based sidekick, and when the series fell through that idea became the Comic Relief special.
