Plot summary
Archive footage and interviews recorded years later trace a large dome built in the Arizona desert that holds a copy of Earth's ecosystems and goes by the name Biosphere 2. The people behind it are countercultural visionaries who want to know whether human beings could establish a life on other planets. In 1991, eight biospherians move inside the sealed vivarium, quarantined there for two years. Ecological problems arise within the enclosure, and the group draws accusations of cult mentalities.
