Plot summary
Mitch and Jack drive a nameless highway, and Mitch carries a picture of his daughter, Katherine. Sadie, Ava and Kim, who play in a band named The White Tights, leave a motel to visit landmarks, and their van's tire goes flat in the desert. Lucas, on the phone with his wife Claire, drives alone until he hits a woman on the road and calls 911, where a dispatcher and an EMT answer. Sandy is the dispatcher on that call; across a parking lot, Danny steps out of his car with a shotgun, looking for his sister. Jem, bound for college, spends one last weekend with her parents, Cait and Daryl.
