Plot summary
Rudy Kurniawan is a wealthy Indonesian wine collector with a deep interest in Burgundy. He spends millions of dollars on rare wines and sells many counterfeit bottles through leading auction houses. In 2006, the auction house Acker Merrall & Condit sells $35 million of his wines, a record. Two years later, the same auction house stages a sale at a Manhattan restaurant, promising that respected Burgundy connoisseurs will authenticate the bottles. Among the lots are bottles said to be Domaine Ponsot Clos Saint-Denis dated 1945, 1949, and 1966. A Burgundy estate proprietor states that this wine was not produced until 1982.
