Plot summary
The chapters run from The Winemaker and The Vintage to The Sommelier and The Memory, and each one opens a different bottle. Between them lie The History, The Wars, The New World, The Cost, The Barrels and The Point Scores. The bottles carry the story and history of wine around the world. The chapters follow how grapes are grown and how wine is produced, what goes on in a cellar, and how many hands touch a bottle. They also ask what sets the price of a bottle and how certain wines come to be listed on a wine list. Sommeliers and other people from the wine world appear.
