Plot summary
Tom Joslin and Mark Massi have shared a home in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, as partners for more than twenty years, and both are living with AIDS. Joslin takes up a hand-held video camera and keeps a diary of their household: errands, doctor's visits, and the frustration of daily routines. The project was meant to record Massi's illness; as Joslin grows more ill himself, the camera turns to his own battle. He asks a friend who had once been his film student to complete the film. The couple's earlier film, Blackstar: Autobiography of a Close Friend, from 1976, is shown in part to explain Joslin's relationship with his parents.
