Plot summary
Seven years have now passed since Ryun-hee Kim was brought from North Korea to South Korea and made a citizen there against her will. Her goal has been the same all along: to get back to her family in the North. The relations between the two Koreas, and the political absurdity around them, keep her from making that journey. In the North her family carries on without her, their lives empty where she used to be. She worries that she is turning into a shadow, a woman kept alive only in the fading memory of the family she left behind.
