Plot summary
An article in Stop, a tabloid whose success comes from stories about sex, questions whether Dr. Helen Brown, a psychologist and the author of Sex and the Single Girl, has any experience with men. She loses patients over it and turns down the magazine's request for a follow-up interview. Bob Weston, Stop's managing editor, wants that interview anyway. His neighbor Frank Broderick, a hosiery manufacturer, has no time to see a counselor about his quarrels with his jealous wife, Sylvia, so Bob takes Frank's name and arrives at Helen's office as a patient, planning to pass her advice along to Frank.
