Plot summary

Australian authorities took thousands of Aboriginal girls from their families and put them into domestic service, holding control of where they went, what they were paid and how they lived. Five women taken as children, Rita Wright, Rita Wenberg, Violet West, Adelaide Wenberg and Valerie Linow, give first-person accounts of the work they were forced to do and the families they were taken from. Their stories are placed against the government policy of the Stolen Generations, and the women press for recognition of what was done to them, arguing that the wrongs reach beyond their own lives to later generations of Aboriginal people.
