Plot summary

Bobby Dagen became a self-help guru and leader of a support group for Jigsaw survivors by claiming he escaped one of Jigsaw's traps, but his story is false. He is taken to an abandoned psychiatric hospital with his wife, Joyce, and people close to him, including his publicist, Nina, his lawyer, Suzanne, and his best friend, Cale. Bobby has one hour to complete tests to save Joyce, who is chained to a platform. Meanwhile, Jill Tuck, John Kramer's ex-wife, offers internal affairs detective Matt Gibson an affidavit that names Mark Hoffman as the man responsible for recent Jigsaw games, asking for protection in return. Hoffman also abducts a gang of white supremacists and puts them in a junkyard trap.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Saw 3D: The Final Chapter (2010)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • The circular saw blades in the trap were actually real and functional. Jon Cor told Demon FM that he had scars on his hands from the shackles, that Sebastian Pigott chipped a tooth and that Anne Lee Greene lost the feeling in her feet and had to receive medical attention.
  • Twisted Pictures suddenly dismissed Hackl and forced Kevin Greutert, who had made his directorial debut on the sixth film and was about to begin work on Paranormal Activity 2, onto the project by exercising a contractual clause, much to his dismay. Arriving two weeks before filming, he performed a compressive re-write of the script.
  • In Germany the showing of the film as a whole was banned from April 2012 until January 2013 after the Tiergarten District Court of Berlin found that several scenes violate the violence act §131 StGB. Private copies stayed legal, and the Berlin appeal court revoked the order after StudioCanal, which owns the German distribution rights, appealed.
  • Saw 3D was initially rated NC-17 by the Motion Picture Association of America and had to be edited and re-submitted six times to secure an R rating.
  • A trailer shown in the United Kingdom during a broadcast of The Gadget Show led a 10-year-old viewer to complain that it was distressing and inappropriately scheduled. The Advertising Standards Authority ruled it “likely to cause distress to young children” and banned subsequent broadcasts from occurring before 21:00.
  • Over 25 gallons of fake blood was used in the film, two and a half times more than was used on Saw II.
  • Producer Oren Koules told the horror news website ShockTilYouDrop.com that there are eleven traps in the film, the most ever in the franchise at that point.
