Plot summary
The year is 1720 and the Great Northern War is over. Tordenskiold is 29, and he was given the rank of vice-admiral once the war against Sweden ended; with the successful naval battles behind him he is extremely restless. Denmark counts him a prominent hero, and companies treat him as a draw. His butler Kold acts as his impressionario and books him into suitable companies, and Kold has a marriage in mind for him as well: Ms. Norris, an English noblewoman. To meet her, the two of them leave Christianshavn and travel through southern Jutland toward the cities of northern Germany.
