Plot summary
Mace Sowell spent his career at the DIA and now lives alone, convinced that his old boss, Admiral Thomas Michelmore, wants him dead. Michelmore is running for President, and Mace says he holds records of his dealings at the agency, stored in cyberspace and set to go to newspapers unless he reprograms the mail server every day with a password only he knows. Mace has early Alzheimer's disease, and paranoia is among its symptoms, so his psychiatrist Dr. Simon and his daughter Michelle Sowell-Ross doubt the threat is real. Michelle hires a caregiver, Andi Travers, to live in, and Mace is hostile toward her. His friend Stu, who cleans the pool, stages mock break-ins with him.
