Biography

Zalman King was an American actor, writer, director and producer who dropped his last name when he started acting and later moved behind the camera. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he began on television in the mid 1960s, with work on The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Munsters and Gunsmoke, and from 1970 to 1971 he played the attorney Aaron Silverman on the ABC drama The Young Lawyers. His screen roles included Stranger on the Run (1967), Trip with the Teacher (1975), Blue Sunshine (1977) and Galaxy of Terror (1981). As a director he made Two Moon Junction (1988), Wild Orchid (1990), Wild Orchid II: Two Shades of Blue (1991) and Red Shoe Diaries (1992), which grew into a Showtime series, along with Delta of Venus (1995) and In God's Hands (1998), which he also co-wrote. He worked with Adrian Lyne on 9½ Weeks and produced Body Language. He died in 2012.
