Virginia Carroll
Biography
Virginia Carroll was an American actress who became known for her work in western films. Born in Los Angeles on December 2, 1913, she worked as a department store model before beginning her film career in 1935. Her first screen part was a small role as a fashion model in Roberta (1935). Less than a year later she made her first western, A Tenderfoot Goes West (1936), with Jack La Rue. She became a regular presence in B-level western features, acting opposite Tex Ritter, Roy Rogers, Johnny Mack Brown, Bill Elliott, Gene Autry, and Whip Wilson. Her credits included Oklahoma Terror (1939), Prairie Gunsmoke (1942), and Bad Men of Tombstone (1949). Later she took television roles on programs such as Perry Mason, Dragnet, The Roy Rogers Show, and The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok. She died in 2009.
