Tony Slattery

Tony Slattery was an English actor and comedian who became a regular on British television from the mid-1980s. Born in Stonebridge, London, in 1959, he discovered a love of theater at the University of Cambridge, where he joined the Cambridge Footlights and, in 1981, won the inaugural Perrier Award for the revue The Cellar Tapes. He first broke into television on Saturday Stayback in 1983 and became a regular performer on the improvisation show Whose Line Is It Anyway? from 1988. His film roles included How to Get Ahead in Advertising (1989), The Crying Game (1992), Peter's Friends (1992) and Lady Godiva: Back in the Saddle (2007). On stage he appeared in the West End musicals Me and My Girl and Radio Times, and on television he hosted Trivial Pursuit from 1993 to 1994 and was a regular on Kingdom from 2007 to 2009. He also appeared in the podcast Tony Slattery's Rambling Club from 2024.
