Sylvia Kristel
Biography
Sylvia Kristel was a Dutch actress and model who made more than fifty films. Born in Utrecht, she began modeling as a teenager and won the Miss TV Europe contest in 1973. She gained international attention in 1974 as the title character of Emmanuelle, a softcore film among the most successful French productions, and she played the part in five of the seven Emmanuelle movies. Typecasting in provocative and nude roles followed, among them a 1981 adaptation of Lady Chatterley's Lover and the title role in Mata Hari (1985), about a World War I spy. In the United States she appeared in The Nude Bomb (1980) and took the lead in Private Lessons (1981), a sex comedy in which she played a housemaid who seduces a teenage boy. She later directed the animated short Topor and Me, honored at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, and her last acting role came in the Italian television movie The Swing Girls (2010).

Sergio Leone, a friend of Kristel's, wanted her for the role of Carol in Once Upon a Time in America, but the producers disagreed and Tuesday Weld got the part.
