Sharon Tate
Biography
Sharon Tate, an American actress and model born in Dallas, worked in advertisements and small television roles during the 1960s before moving into films. Her screen debut came as an extra in Barabbas in 1961, and she later played a witch in the mystery horror picture Eye of the Devil (1966). Her first starring role, Jennifer North in the drama Valley of the Dolls (1967), earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. That year she also appeared in Roman Polanski's comedy horror film The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967). She trained in martial arts with Bruce Lee for the spy comedy The Wrecking Crew (1968). Twelve Plus One (1969), her final completed film, came out after her death. Reviewers praised her comic and dramatic work, and she was seen as one of Hollywood's most promising newcomers.
