Ruby Dandridge

Ruby Dandridge was an American actress whose career covered film, radio, television and stage from the early 1900s to the late 1950s. Born in Wichita, Kansas, she appeared on stage as a singer and in 1937 took part in a Los Angeles production of Macbeth. One of her earliest screen roles was an uncredited native dancer in King Kong (1933). She later played supporting parts including Violet in Tish (1942), Mrs. Kelso in Cabin in the Sky (1943), the housekeeper in Three Little Girls in Blue (1946), and Dabby in Tap Roots (1948). She was best known for radio, where she played Sadie Blake and Harriet Crawford on Amos 'n Andy and Geranium on the Judy Canova Show, and she played Oriole on the radio and television versions of The Beulah Show. She was Sally in A Hole in the Head (1959) and played the maid on Father of the Bride for a season from 1961 to 1962.
