Rick Aviles
Biography
Rick Aviles was an American actor and stand-up comedian of Puerto Rican descent. He started out in New York during the 1970s and 1980s, performing on the street and in Greenwich Village clubs. A 1978 Variety notice called him a comic with promise. His film debut came as Mad Dog in The Cannonball Run (1981). He also took small parts in The Secret of My Success and Street Smart, both from 1987. From 1987 to 1991 he hosted It's Showtime at the Apollo. His best-known role was the hitman Willie Lopez in Ghost (1990). Other films included Mystery Train (1989), The Godfather Part III (1990), Carlito's Way (1993) and Waterworld (1995). On television he appeared in Stephen King's The Stand, The Carol Burnett Show, Mr. & Mrs. Dracula and The Day Women Got Even. He died in 1995.
