Richard Eyer

Richard Eyer is an American former child actor whose screen work spanned the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Santa Monica, California, he began after his mother entered him in children's personality contests; a win at the Hollywood Bowl led to commercials and modeling work. In The Desperate Hours (1955) he played the dangerously impulsive son of Fredric March, and the following year he appeared as Chuck in Canyon River. Eyer starred in The Invisible Boy (1957), an independent sequel to MGM's Forbidden Planet, and in The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958) he portrayed Barani, a genie with a metallic voice. He also starred in the western Fort Dobbs (1958) with Clint Walker and Virginia Mayo. His television credits included more than one hundred episodes, among them City Detective, Wagon Train, and Gunsmoke, and his final role came at age 21 on Combat! After his acting career, he taught elementary school in Bishop, California, retiring in 2006.
