Phil Anselmo

Phil Anselmo is an American musician from New Orleans who became known as the lead singer of the groove metal band Pantera. He started his first band, Samhain, in 1981, and after a spell with Razor White he joined Pantera in 1986, relocating to Texas to record Power Metal. The group signed to Atco Records in 1989 and released Cowboys from Hell in 1990, then Vulgar Display of Power in 1992 and Far Beyond Driven, which entered the US chart at number one in 1994. After Pantera disbanded in 2003 he gave much of his time to Superjoint Ritual and other projects, among them Down, the black metal group Scour and En Minor, and he has run his own label, Housecore Records, since around 2001. He also provided the voice of Satan in the 1997 film The Manson Family and appeared in the comedy series Metal Grasshopper in 2014.
