Paul Panzer
Biography
Paul Panzer was a German-American actor of the silent screen, with credits in over 330 movies made between 1905 and 1952. Born in Würzburg, Bavaria, he studied pharmacy at the university there and vocal music at the city's conservatory, and he served as an artillery reserve lieutenant before leaving Germany. Building sets and painting backdrops for a New York City film studio first drew him to the movies, and he also worked in the theater, performing for Augustin Daly and acting as his stage manager. His best remembered part was Koerner, otherwise Raymond Owen, in The Perils of Pauline. Beginning in 1934 and running into the 1950s, Warner Brothers kept him under contract as an extra. He died in 1958.
