Patricia Wettig
Biography
Born in Milford, Ohio, Patricia Wettig is an American actress and playwright who became known on the television drama Thirtysomething. She began in theater and had guest spots on Remington Steele, Hill Street Blues and L.A. Law before playing Joanne McFadden on St. Elsewhere from 1986 to 1987. Her breakthrough came when she was cast as Nancy Weston on ABC's thirtysomething, a part that earned her three Primetime Emmy Awards, including two for lead actress, and a Golden Globe. After making her film debut in Guilty by Suspicion (1991), she appeared as Billy Crystal's wife in City Slickers (1991) and later in City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold (1994). She later played leading or recurring roles in Courthouse, Alias, Prison Break as Vice President Caroline Reynolds, and Brothers & Sisters as Holly Harper. She also earned an MFA in playwriting from Smith College and wrote the play F2M.

In 1995 Wettig took the lead role of a tough female judge in the CBS drama Courthouse. She planned to quit over creative differences, since sources said she wanted a star vehicle rather than an ensemble, but the show was canceled before her character was written out.
Behind the camera
Wettig went back to school later in life, earning a Master of Fine Arts in playwriting from Smith College in 2001. Her play F2M was staged in 2011 during the Powerhouse Theater season of New York Stage and Film and Vassar College.
