Niky Wardley
Biography
Niky Wardley is an English stage and screen actress. Born in Luton, Bedfordshire, she trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. While in a Royal Shakespeare Company production of A Servant to Two Masters (2000 to 2001), she met Catherine Tate, who invited her to The Catherine Tate Show (2004 to 2007). Her most notable role there was Liese Jackson, sidekick to schoolgirl Lauren Cooper. The show received critical acclaim and multiple BAFTA, National Television Awards and British Comedy Awards nominations. Wardley went on to Catherine Tate's Nan (2014 to 2015), the short film My First Nativity (2010), the Netflix mockumentary Hard Cell (2022), which she co-wrote, and the films Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey?! (2014) and The Nan Movie (2022). She appeared in The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot (2013), starred in the BBC One sitcom In with the Flynns (2011 to 2012), and voiced Tamsin Drew in Doctor Who audio dramas.

First role
Wardley began acting in high school, where her drama teacher gave her the part of Nancy in Oliver! at around 13. She said that from her first moment on stage, she knew this was what she wanted to do with her life.
Big break
Wardley's first Royal Shakespeare Company theater production was A Servant to Two Masters, and while appearing in it she got to know comedian Catherine Tate, with whom she spent ten months sharing a dressing room. Tate later asked her to join her BBC Two sketch series, The Catherine Tate Show.

Wardley was cast as the Eighth Doctor's companion Tamsin Drew in Big Finish audio dramas after Fifth Doctor actor Peter Davison recommended her to the producers.
Beyond film
Wardley played Liese Jackson at the 2005 Royal Variety Performance, where her character's remark about a sleeping old man reportedly led Prince Philip to complain to the show's executive producer.
Behind the camera
Wardley co-wrote the Netflix mockumentary series Hard Cell in 2022 and appeared in it alongside Tate. She and Tate also worked together on the BBC sitcom Queen of Oz in 2023.
