Big break
In 2003, the production team at Kudos Television wanted a replacement for the character Jenny Agutter had played in Series 1 of Spooks, so from Series 2 the part of Ruth Evershed was written especially for Walker.
Early training
Walker's acting career started with the Cambridge Footlights. David Wolstencroft, a writer for Spooks, and comedian Sue Perkins were among her contemporaries on the 1990 national tour.
Early training
After Cambridge, Walker was offered a spot at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, but she already had an agent and some roles, so she decided to pursue acting instead.
Beyond film
Walker played Medtech Liv Chenka, a Doctor Who companion, in Big Finish audio dramas, beginning with Robophobia in July 2011. She returned in 2022 and also appeared in the 18-part series The Robots.
A first
Walker has taken on the part of a police officer or detective on British TV eight separate times, making this her eighth such role.
