Myron McCormick

Biography

Myron McCormick was an American actor who worked in stage, radio, and film. Born in Albany, Indiana, in 1908, he attended Princeton University, where he graduated magna cum laude and gained experience in musical theater. On Broadway he was one of three performers in South Pacific who stayed with the production for almost its entire run, and his portrayal of sailor Luther Billis earned him a Tony Award in 1950 for his supporting role in a musical. He was also known as Sergeant King in the military comedy No Time for Sergeants, a role he played on Broadway from 1955 to 1957 and repeated in the 1958 film with Andy Griffith. His first screen role came in Winterset (1936), and he later appeared in Jolson Sings Again (1949). In The Hustler (1961) he played Charlie, the partner of Paul Newman's Fast Eddie Felson. He also made many radio and television appearances.
