Biography

Mildred Davis was an American screen performer closely associated with Harold Lloyd's silent comedies. Born in Philadelphia in 1901, she attended the Friends School there before traveling to Los Angeles with hopes of landing film roles. After appearing in several small parts, she came to the attention of Hal Roach, who brought her to Lloyd's notice. Needing a new leading lady after Bebe Daniels, Lloyd gave Davis her first opportunity opposite him in the 1919 short From Hand to Mouth. That short began a run of fifteen films the pair made together. Davis retired from acting in 1923, but later returned to the screen for Too Many Crooks, a production Lloyd made through his own company. She died in 1969.
